Instagram and Vine

I decided to start separate accounts for Instagram and Vine to use exclusively to communicate with my students. These are two more resources that can be used to spark student interest in the classroom. There are many uses for them, all you need to do is be creative and start playing with them before you introduce them to students.
Instagram is another social networking page you can use mostly to share pictures through your mobile device. I came across a few blog posts with excellent recommendations on ideas for the classroom or library. This inspired to upload a few photos I snapped while visiting the JFK 6th Floor Museum in Dallas, Texas.
(Before you share your photos you can add text using any other photo app and change the filter using Instagram.) I recommend you read through these post for some great ideas: 10 Ways to Use Instagram in the Classroom and Using Instagram in the Classroom.

Vine is another pretty awesome tool you can use in your classroom or library. It is very similar in concept to Twitter and owned by the same company. The idea is that your video message last only 8 seconds. Creating Vine videos is fairly simple to do. I created this vine showcasing 8 seconds worth of my eBook collection.

I also came across some really cool Vines that can easily be used in the classroom to introduce a biography, showcase a book trailer or student project.
